Your
packaging's
next life

Giving our created waste as many lives as we can, as well as recycling it properly, is a must for us all as guardians of this beautiful planet we all share.

So here are some 2nd, 3rd and beyond life ideas for our packaging to help reduce some of our environmental impacts with repurposing we can all get behind.

The Party Box

All the Polypropylene BAGS: in your party box are fully recyclable via the soft plastics recycling scheme. Please save and drop it off at your local supermarket collection point. We are working hard on a solution that is home-compostable and still gives us the shelf life we need; watch this space for future changes as they become available!

Our PAPER CUPS  that the toppings come in are fully recyclable in your recycling bin. But before you do this, please try these second-life ideas to reuse as much as possible. They are versatile all over the place:

  • Wipe them out and poke a few holes in the bottom, fill with dirt or seed-raising mix and use for seed starter pots with the kids. Once sprouted, plant the whole pot in the garden.

  • For the wooden dipping sticks, make plant name tags and stick them in your seed pots above 😊

  • Great for making fruit and jelly cups ( then the seed pot :))

  • Use as paint pots and beads/ sprinkles for arts and crafts afternoons.

  • Wash out after use and chop up the tubs to compost them and feed your worm farm.

For the clear PLASTIC SAUCE TUBS & LIDS, these are number 5 and are fully recyclable in your fortnightly collection, but before we send them away for recycling, these are also great to reuse:

  • Wash them out and use for your homemade hummus or dips.

  • Use for vege sticks, dried fruit and marshmallows of course! for the kids' lunch boxes and picnics.

  • Long-term storage for thumb tacks, blue tak, playdough ( keeps it from going dry)

  • Great for screw or nail tubs for the garage or hobby storage.

  • We use them for the small Lego pieces on Lego build days.

THE PARTY BOX itselfthese are already made from recycled paper, so this is actually it’s second life already YAY!

The card itself is also compostable, (as well as being fully recyclable). Just chop them up small and soak them with a bit of water to soften, which will  speed up this process if desired. Or feed the worm farm inhabitants.

The window of the box is fully recyclable via your fortnightly collection.

Once tattered and worn out simply recycle them (including the sleeve, branded paper and packaging materials) in your fortnightly collection to give it another life somewhere else, as something else :)

But before we break down and recycle or compost , try some of the ideas below to reuse them first off:

  • Use the boxes to store those beautiful pics the wee ones bring home from Kindy.

  • Poke a few holes in the bottom, fill with seed raising mix and pant seeds with the kids. Use the lid as a mini greenhouse until the seeds sprout.

  • Bits and pieces storage for the kids arts and crafts supplies.

  • Great comic book or document storage.

  • They also make a great crown if you cut, tape and decorate the unprinted side 😊

  • Get creative with the kids and build a mini landscape or terrarium etc.

  • Bake a batch of cookies or brownies, fill the box and give as a gift.

  • Re use as a hamper or gift box and fill with delicious gifting goodies (including some delicious Mallow Cube Deluxe Rocky Road!)

Deluxe Party Packs

  • Mallow cube party packs are Polypropylene and are fully recyclable via the soft plastic recycling scheme. Please save and drop off at your local supermarket collection point.

  • The nutritional card inserts can all go in your recycling bin. They are all number 5 recyclable.

  • Reuse the berry twisty tie to reseal your bags of whatever is in the pantry; great for those chip packets!
